Hello, thanks for stopping by!

Hi, I'm Brenna. I use she/her pronouns and I've been singing and performing since I was 8 years old when I started my first singing lesson. I haven't stopped since! I've been teaching for about 7 years, both privately and at various music schools.

I believe in creating music lessons that are compassionate and inclusive - music should be for everyone. If you want to learn, I want to teach. Making music can feel scary and vulnerable sometimes, so I always strive to create a safe space for students of all ages and experience levels to learn and explore.

Teaching Pillars

Kindergarten

Self-Determination

I believe that no matter how old you are, you deserve to have a say in what your lessons look like.

Music Class

Tailored and Inclusive

No two lessons are exactly the same. I am flexible and adaptable so that each lesson is as unique as my students!

Piano Practice

Engaging

Your music lessons shouldn't be something you dread. I work hard to make sure our lessons are engaging so that you look forward to them every week!

My Story

Singing, acting and dancing has been a part of my life since I was a little girl. My very first singing recital I sang Castle on a Cloud and performed every single year after that. I participated in Shakespeare summer camps and joined the Upper Canada Junior Repertory Company. My years-long voice teacher, Wendy Dobson, introduced me to the world of opera and I started performing with a small ensemble around Ontario directed and produced by the late Walter Kornelson. With my teacher's encouragement I made my community theater debut in The Secret Garden in Etobicoke Musical Productions and continued my performing journey at Sheridan College where I earned a certificate in Performing Arts Preparation. I learned about every aspect of stage shows from dance, management, costume design, set design and adapted and directed my own production of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog: The Musical.

Once I got my fill here in the city, I packed my bags and headed out east to earn my Bachelor's of Music Performance as a voice major. I learned classical techniques and pedagogy and sparked my love for teaching music. I added a multitude of classical music to my musical theater repertoire, dabbled in open mic nights singing covers at the local pub, and I was honored to perform at the Tom Regan Memorial Concert two years in a row.

Following graduation I began contracting my teaching services to local Toronto music schools. I loved meeting new families and students with different experience levels and interests but I always felt a bit limited working within schools. I believe that music should be inclusive and I need the freedom to adapt and evolve my teaching methods. After several years and a short six-year stint as a retail manager, I finally feel ready to commit to my own private teaching practice.

As if that wasn't enough on my plate, I also began my Masters in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. I have always been and continue to be a huge mental health advocate. I am especially interested in understanding how to advocate for the mental health of performers and working with performers struggling with music performance anxiety or stage fright. I'm not quite there yet, but I am excited to see where this journey takes me!
